BEWARE - LOCAL SCAM CATCHING PEOPLE OFF GUARD… An automated phone system is dialing phone numbers (primarily cell phones) in Kansas. The call states that the person’s bank debit card has been restricted due to recent activity, asking the accountholder to enter his or her debit card number, expiration date, etc. The scammers use the information obtained to charge several fraudulent transactions to the account.

NEVER give out any financial information, account information, PIN codes or electronic card information to anyone representing that they are from a bank, credit card or debit card company over the phone, especially if you did not initiate the phone call. Please do not allow an automated machine to catch you off guard.

NOTICE OF CHANGES IN TEMPORARY FDIC INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS

All funds in a "noninterest-bearing transaction account" are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012. This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.

The term "noninterest-bearing transaction account" includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest. It also includes Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA’s).  It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts, and money-market accounts.
